Messages from the Management Remember "We will sell no wine before its time."? No? Well, some years ago a wine commercial involved an elegant or perhaps distinguished-looking man in his 60s with a with a deep resonating voice (Orson Welles, actually), making this statement. Our product is not fine, well-aged wine (neither was the product that Welles was pitching), but I would like to borrow from the notion that it takes time to produce quality to let anyone reading this know that we are working away on the first products of this project and have been for some time. We have resisted posting material just because it catches your eye, it looks impressive, or it shows that we are indeed working. We will soon begin to post on this site the first products of our project, along with a general picture of how these products fit into the overall design. We will post new content as we are 'content' with it. Among our first products to add to this site are the Quilldriver 1.0 software that our team has developed for transcribing media along with newly digitized MPEG4 versions of the twenty scenes from our original 1989-92 Ucuchi film and transcripts created with Quilldriver. The complexity of redigitizing the film from the original 1 video master onto DVCAM cassettes and then producing various formats of the film and the scenes and clips in the scenes using Final Cut Pro 6, as well as retranscribing each scene with Quilldriver has taken time. We do not want to post the software, Quilldriver 1.0, without content to use with it and without an illustrated guide. This guide is written with illustrations from these 1989 film scenes. Each time we post a set of materials, we will also include here a message about the materials and information about the next materials we will be posting. We appreciate your patience. |
